Why ADPi: Kathryn Davis PC'22

"Since joining, my love for this sorority has only grown. These are the girls I want to go to after a bad week because I trust them to be there without judgment."

Hello!

My name is Kathryn Davis and my freshman year at UCLA was kind of a mess. Between severe health issues, a demanding course load, and even getting online stalked by a twelve year old (I know, right?!?), at times it felt like the world was out to get me. However, no matter what I was facing, I knew that I could always go to my friends in ADPi if I needed help.

Moving from Missouri to California and trading in my graduating class of 200 kids I had known since kindergarten for an undergraduate class of 30,000 was, needless to say… an adjustment. Even after finding an incredible group of friends, I still missed the community I had back home. I like to joke that I joined ADPi for the Friday brunches or our house dog, Sprokit, who has an uncanny resemblance to a rat, but the real reason I joined was because my time spent at the house made me forget that home was 1,500 miles away.

Since joining, my love for this sorority has only grown. These are the girls I want to go to after a bad week because I trust them to be there without judgment. Adpi gave me a group for my first pride, a place to go for Thanksgiving when flights home were too expensive, and even a ride home after emergency dental surgery. I am proud to be a part of a community of genuine girls who are willing, without hesitation, to give without expecting anything in return. I look forward to continuing to give back to these girls and can’t wait for many more memories to come!
